One Night, One T&T Family

Dear T&T family,

On August 5, for our Vancouver teammates we did something a little different — We took over Playland at the PNE for one very special evening, just for our T&T colleagues and their families.

From 6 to 10 p.m., more than 2,000 T&T colleagues and family members joined us for a night filled with rides, laughter, food, and plenty of happy moments.

Walking through Playland that evening, I saw colleagues lining up for rides together, parents enjoying the evening with their children, and families taking photos and making memories. Everywhere I looked, there were familiar T&T faces — but this time, away from our stores, offices and everyday work.

And that was exactly what made the evening so special.

At T&T, we often talk about being one big family. But a family isn’t only about working together. It’s also about celebrating together, having fun together, and making time for the people who support us outside of work.

Our colleagues give so much of their time and energy to T&T every day. Behind each of us are also families who support us — whether it’s a spouse waiting for us after a long day, parents cheering us on, or children who sometimes have to share their time with T&T.

So this evening wasn’t only for our colleagues. It was also our way of saying thank you to our T&T families.

One of my favourite things about the evening was seeing different generations enjoying Playland together. Some were brave enough to take on the biggest rides, while others were perfectly happy staying on the ground and cheering them on! For me it was really cool to meet your kids – to see them grow and look so much alike you!  I brought my kids too and I made them speak mandarin all night with different colleagues!

There was no agenda and no meeting to attend — just four hours to relax, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the evening so memorable, and a special thank you to all the recreation teams and volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make this event possible.

I hope everyone went home that night with tired feet, big smiles, and some wonderful memories.

Until our next T&T family gathering!

She believes that when you put your heart into what you do, customers will surely feel it. It is these seemingly ordinary little gestures that leave customers with a lasting impression of T&T’s warmth and thoughtfulness.

Customer is #1, Be the Best We Can Be

Qin Tan - (London store) Store Administrative Department

Promoter Khine took the initiative to lead our membership promotion efforts throughout the four-day London Night Market event this year. Despite temperatures exceeding 30°C and a constant flow of visitors, she welcomed every customer with a warm smile and enthusiasm, introducing visitors to the benefits of the T&T Rewards program while patiently answering their questions. During the event, she successfully registered more than 86 new members and distributed promotional coupons, helping more local residents become familiar with the T&T brand.

Khine’s efforts were reflected not only in the impressive numbers, but also in the genuine recognition she received from customers. During the four-day event, she was personally recognized in five separate Google Reviews. These heartfelt reviews were not only a recognition of her personal service, but also reflected customers’ trust and confidence in T&T’s service quality.

In her daily work, Khine consistently embodies our “Customer is #1” service philosophy. She warmly greets every customer, patiently introduces products, and provides thoughtful recommendations tailored to their needs. Regardless of a customer's age, language, or cultural background, she treats everyone with warmth, professionalism, and patience, ensuring they feel valued and respected. Even after her shift ends, if she sees a familiar customer in the store, she warmly says hello, checks in on how they are doing, and gladly shares helpful product recommendations.

Khine exemplifies the value of “Be the Best We Can Be” through her sincerity, strong sense of responsibility, and professionalism. She has earned customers’ trust while setting an excellent example for the team, demonstrating that exceptional service comes from a genuine commitment to always putting customers first.

The price of blind conformity

Human Resources Department

There was a colleague who was eating food from the kitchen. While everyone knew it was against company policy, the person did it so naturally that no one put a stop to it, and they eventually convinced themselves that it wouldn't be a problem. Over time, some people decided to follow suit and eat along, others when seeing their colleagues ready to take the food away would even help them pack it up. Although everyone was fully aware of the company's policy, the idea that “everyone was doing it” gradually overrode their better judgement.

It was only when the company launched an investigation that reality finally set in. No one was excused for following the crowd or helping others. What had seemed like simply going along with what everyone else was doing, was in fact, participation in a policy violation. Looking back, everyone had helped normalize the misconduct, yet not a single person had the courage to speak up and stop it.

The company's winning culture of “uphold integrity” and “thinking independently” go beyond simply doing the right thing ourselves, but it's also about having the courage to speak up and refuse participation in any wrongdoing. When everyone is doing the same thing, the true challenge lies in staying true to one’s own personal judgement and not simply following what others do. It might feel reassuring since “everyone is doing it”, but it's never a justification when facing the consequences. Those who choose to go along with any wrongdoing must be held accountable for their actions.
