Growing Stronger, Together

Dear T&T Family,

We’ve started the countdown to our second T&T U.S. store! On November 13th, we’ll open the doors to our Lynnwood, Washington location—a major step forward as we continue expanding south of the border. T&T has been on a strong journey upwards, and this has created opportunities for everyone, even at the most senior levels of our company.

Calvin Liao, a T&T veteran of over 23 years, will now lead as the Senior Director of North American Operations. For the first time, we’re uniting our East and West region operations, and Calvin’s deep knowledge of T&T makes him a great fit to lead. “I’m most excited about the opportunity to standardize operational practices across North America stores. I aim to collaborate closely with our Store Development Department and each business unit to accelerate the pace of new store openings, driving excellence in every facet of our operations,” he says. Calvin will continue reporting to Sandy Tan.

Jennifer Mei, formerly Senior Director of Digital, will now assume the role Senior Director of Eastern Region Operations. We’re so grateful for her entrepreneurial work that took our ecommerce business from zero to one hundred. But many of you may not know that she also has a strong operations background, with over 10 years of experience at Walmart, China. “Operations is all about teamwork, continuous improvement, and creating meaningful shopping experiences. Together, we’ll continue to make T&T a place where customers love to shop and employees love to work,” she shares, She will report to Calvin Liao.

With Jennifer moving to Operations, Marketing and Digital will now both come under Michael Hei’s leadership as the new Director of Marketing and Digital. With over 20 years of experience in marketing and e-commerce, including at Amazon and Freshippo, Michael will allow us to connect with customers in fresh, exciting ways. He states, “It’s a great opportunity to create more seamless, impactful customer experiences—whether online or in-store—and helping T&T become a household name across North America.” Michael will report to me.

I’m so proud of seeing how many of these individuals began their journey here at T&T in different parts of the business, helping to shape who we have become today. But we can only grow as fast as our talent allows us to grow.

If you know someone who would be a great fit, invite them to be part of T&T’s journey. We also encourage you to connect with your supervisors and keep an eye on our career site, because we want you to be the best you can be. Please visit www.tntsupermarket.com/eng/joinus.

Putting people first, carrying the torch forward

At T&T's Meat and Seafood Departments, Tianyuan Yang — affectionately known as Yang Yang — stands out as a leader who brings teamwork to life through his actions and example.

His kindness and sincerity shine through in daily greetings and casual chats, making colleagues feel genuinely valued and cared for.

Yang Yang often says, "My responsibility isn't just today's work, it's planning for my colleagues' future." He not only leads from the front, but also carefully observes each colleague's strengths, providing guidance and growth opportunities. During a conversation, he noticed an employee's eagerness for long-term development and immediately encouraged and recommended them to join the Talent Reserve Program. In just one year, he has nurtured an Assistant Department Head and a Supervisor. From new employees to management talent, their growth is made possible through their trust in Yang Yang and his nurturing qualities. He firmly believes that each employee can shine if given the right opportunity.

During the company's rapid expansion, he took the initiative to foster cross-departmental learning, helping team members gain expertise in both the Meat and Seafood Departments to cultivate future talent. Today, the team is not only highly efficient, but operates more like a close-knit family filled with trust and support.

To Yang Yang, leadership isn't about managing, it's about walking alongside his team towards a better future. He turns the spirit of T&T into action, enabling the team to grow and thrive through collaboration and inspiring hope as they move forward together. Because he believes every seed holds the potential to grow into a mighty tree.

Don't strike from behind a keyboard

HR Dept.

The company previously received some anonymous complaints lacking specific facts, and instead contained personal attacks and malicious accusations. Such behaviour doesn't solve problems but causes unfairness and harm.

We would like to remind our colleagues that the purpose of complaints is to improve, not to harm. Don't hide behind your computer screen and become a keyboard warrior who attacks from the shadows.

The company values every colleague's feedback and offers transparent and open channels for complaints. We encourage sincere and specific input to improve the workplace and uphold the second principle of our winning culture, "the courage to take responsibility", and be accountable for one's words and actions. In an article previously shared with employees, the President stated that, "Real name complaints show accountability, anonymous complaints will not be addressed." We ask everyone to submit complaints with real names, engage in direct dialogue, share clear facts and provide examples to help us resolve issues effectively.

The company reserves the right to not respond to anonymous complaints that lack factual basis. If a complaint is found to be malicious or fabricated, and the identity of the person behind it is confirmed, serious disciplinary action will be taken based on the severity of the case in order to protect the dignity and fairness that every employee deserves. Let's resolve our issues with positivity, sincerity and communication, and work together to build a workplace that is bright, transparent and fair.
