Meet the Latest Edition to Our Team: Patrick Furlong
Dear T&T family,
It’s an exciting time for our business. This week, we opened our first store in California. Welcome, San Jose team — we’re so happy you’re part of our big T&T family. As we continue to grow, we’re nearing 9,000 employees across North America.
With this momentum, we need to strengthen how we support our people. So, I’m very pleased to introduce Patrick Furlong as our new HR Lead! Patrick brings over 15 years of HR leadership experience at Loblaws, most recently serving as Senior Director of HR for Technology, Analytics, and Asset Protection.
What stands out about Patrick is his courage to step into a very different environment. He is joining a company where he does not speak Chinese, and he is doing so with humility and openness.
Let’s hear from Patrick.
1) What drew you to T&T and what excites you most about joining our growth story?
What drew me to T&T was T&T’s strong brand, unique culture, and exciting growth story. T&T has built something special — a business with deep roots, loyal customers, passionate teams, and a clear opportunity to grow in Canada and the U.S.
As we grow, we must be intentional about how we support our people, and I’m excited to help with that work.
2) What was your first impression of T&T and our teams?
My first impression was the pride people have in T&T. Whether I was speaking with leaders, store teams, office teams, I could feel a strong sense of ownership and commitment.
I also noticed how hard people work—they care about getting things right for customers and for each other. There is a real entrepreneurial spirit here and that is something very special.
3) One T&T’s traditions is for our new team members to share their hobbies. What is something you enjoy doing outside of work?
In my time off, I enjoy spending time outdoors camping and hiking with my family! Summer is coming up and it’s the perfect time to go outside and explore nature.
4) Is there anything you’d like to share as you introduce yourself to the organization?
I am very grateful for the warm welcome I have received so far. As I get started, please know that I am here to listen, learn, and partner.
If you see me, don’t be shy — come say hi and tell me about your experience at T&T. I’m looking forward to meeting more of you and working together to grow this great company. Thank you.

One of the benefits of being part of Loblaws is the opportunity to learn from one another. Patrick brings valuable experience from Loblaws and joins us with a genuine desire to learn from our teams and culture. Welcome, Patrick!

Making life easier for others is the ultimate reward
(Waterloo store) Store Administrative Department Jessica Liang
Tu En is not only an exceptional supervisor at Waterloo store's Meat and Seafood Department, he is also the go-to handyman everyone relies on.
In just over two years, he advanced from the Produce Department to Supervisor of the Meat and Seafood Department. Whether it's filleting fish, cutting fish steaks, preparing seafood platters or meat packaging and precision meat cutting, he's able to quickly master each task. His exceptional skills and strong work ethic earned him the opportunity to represent the store in a knife skills competition where he was recognized as the 2025 Outstanding Employee of the Year.
Beyond his regular duties, Tu En often takes it upon himself to help resolve any maintenance issues at the store. From a clogged toilet, a leak in the ice machine, a broken shopping cart wheel, to torn curtains in the packaging room, if there's an issue, he's always there to help. He even uses his breaks to source parts and research tools, ensuring the facilities and equipment is restored to proper working order.

When someone asked why he's willing to spend his spare time handling random issues, he always laughs and says, "It's incredibly rewarding when I'm able to repair these seemingly minor issues that everyone's been putting up with and make their work a bit easier."
It's great to have Tu En here at T&T.
With heartfelt communication and intuitive guidance

Before any full case of fruit is sold, I take the initiative to inspect it to ensure it meets our quality standards before reaching the customer. I also take the time to explain after-sales support options when needed. From product sampling and quality assurance to after-sales reminders, this end-to-end service helps build customer trust and gives them confidence in every purchase.
Going the Extra Mile: Becoming Customers’ Fruit Encyclopedia:
To help customers better understand the quality and characteristics of our products, I proactively study fruit knowledge before each shift. During peak seasons for honeydew melons, mangoes, and other popular fruits, I act as a knowledgeable advisor, helping customers select the products that best suit their needs, so they leave with not only fresh fruit, but also satisfaction and confidence.
Through professional product knowledge, sincere customer interactions, and attentive service, I enhanced the customer experience and helped drive a 20% increase in fruit sales in 2025, contributing to the Produce Department’s achievement of breaking sales records five consecutive times.

In the coming year, I will continue to serve customers with genuine smiles and professional care, bringing T&T’s winning culture into every sampling interaction and creating a warmer, more surprising 6 Sense shopping journey for every customer.

No wrongdoing escapes justice
Asset Protection Department
A cashier was recently caught by the Asset Protection Department for repeated theft. After gathering sufficient evidence, Asset Protection coordinated with HR to verify and take action on-site. However, the cashier unexpectedly resigned on the day of the planned intervention, preventing the operation from proceeding as intended.
While that employee has already left the company, the matter is far from over. Asset Protection immediately turned over evidence of the repeated thefts to police, who, after investigating the case, decided to press charges.
This incident serves as a stark reminder that no wrongdoing escapes justice. Don't let a moment of greed lead to violations of company policy or the law. Every action leaves a trace, and attempts to evade detection may lead to serious consequences.
The company maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards theft, fraud, and any unlawful behaviour. Even after leaving the company, individuals remain accountable for their actions and may still face legal consequences.
We hope everyone takes this as a lesson to never cross the line and to always uphold the highest standards of integrity to protect their professional reputation and future.
