Celebrating Lunar New Year
Dear T&T Family,
Lunar New Year is a time for reflection and hope. When I think back to our journey so far in the US, I thought of this traditional saying, “一枝獨秀初露鋒芒,再接再厲百花齊放”. We planted the seeds of success at Bellevue years ago, and we are now starting to reap the benefits.
As we continue to accelerate our growth across North America, I want to welcome you to the winning team. We have so many opportunities available for you to grow your career here at T&T! No matter your age, background, current rank, there will be training and promotion opportunities available to you.
I have heard so many graduates of our Store Manager Training, Department Head Training, and Assistant Department Head Training programs tell me that they had never imagined a career in retail or grocery before joining T&T, but they have now made it their goal to make it to the top because they found a home, one that gives ample guidance and support along the way to make them a better person with a successful career.
So, take advantage of these resources, and together, we will flourish. There will always be a place for you as our precious flower grows into a flower bed across North America.
We welcomed many new staff in the past year, so I wanted to let our newbies know our T&T Lunar New Year tradition: a $20 red pocket for everyone and a free meal in our store for those working the night of Lunar New Year’s Eve.
As we welcome the Year of the Snake, I want to thank each of you for the passion, effort, and teamwork that have fueled our success over the past year. Our journey ahead is ambitious – perhaps the most exciting chapter in our history – and together, I’m confident we’ll be celebrating wins and dreaming bigger by year’s end.
Wishing all of you and your family good health.

The path of happiness continues
(Metrotown store) Store Admin Dept. Wendy Tao
Our store’s cashier, Tenzin, is from the Kingdom of Bhutan, one of the happiest countries in the world, where happiness is prioritized above all else. She grew up in this carefree environment until September of 2023, when she moved to Canada alone to pursue her studies. Upon arriving in this new land, she found herself feeling extremely lonely, with few friends to turn to.
Four months after arriving in Canada, she took a friend’s suggestion and interviewed for the cashier position at the Metrotown store, officially kick-starting her new life at T&T. The vibrant work-life at T&T helped fill the void in her life as an international student. She represented the store on Sports Day, showcasing her basketball skills and helping the store win third place in the basketball game.
At work, Tenzin learned to listen attentively to customers, allowing her to better understand and assist them. Customer’s satisfaction and affection towards Tenzin were clear through the many praises she received. Her social circle expanded during her time at work and she became close friends with her colleagues, with whom she could share anything with. Tenzin said that this year at T&T has allowed her to grow quickly, and the discomfort she initially felt has gradually faded, replaced now by a strong sense of happiness.
T&T has helped her better adapt to her new life and environment. She fully enjoys the sense of fulfillment work brings her, and actively participates in the recreational activities organized by the company. “Work-Life Happy”, Tenzin’s journey of happiness continues.
Be accountable, do more with less
(Kanata store) Store Admin Dept. Cindy Wu
Phillip is a non-Chinese employee newly hired when the KA store first opened, and he has proven to be a true asset to the team. He is proactive and diligent, and willing to take on any task given by the Department Head. Whether it be the tedious tasks in the kitchen like taking out the trash, managing waste oil, receiving deliveries, or organizing the warehouse, Phillip excels at every task. His professionalism and efficiency are truly impressive.
To improve work efficiency, Phillip effectively uses a translation software to translate his ideas to Chinese in order to better communicate with his colleagues. At the same time, he also translates products and information with Chinese labels into English, enabling seamless communication and improving the flow of teamwork.
During the busiest phase of KA store’s opening, Phillip’s child was born. He only took a short leave before returning to work, fully dedicating himself to supporting the department’s operations. Leading a team of members from diverse backgrounds, Phillip guided everyone in his own way to efficiently organize the Kitchen Department’s warehouse and manage back-end operations. He embodied the “I ensure food safety” values, ensuring the freshness of ingredients throughout the storage process.
Phillip treats everyone with sincerity, is dependable, and gets along with colleagues across all departments. He is respected and trusted by his colleagues. His hard work and dedication have recently been rewarded with a promotion to Department Supervisor. We trust that in T&T’s big family, Phillip will continue to find joy in work, live happily, and bring even more value to the team and company.
Don’t let electronic devices jeopardize workplace safety
HR Dept.
Sparing a few minutes to check your phone, listen to music, or to follow a sporting event, all these seemingly harmless habits may pose potential dangers in the workplace.
Some incidents that happened recently are prime examples of this. A colleague couldn’t resist checking messages on their phone while operating a trolley, they were distracted for only a few seconds, but their delayed response nearly resulted in a major accident. Another colleague, trying to make work more enjoyable, wore headphones to listen to music, and failed to respond promptly to customers and colleagues. Some colleagues watched live sports during work, even telling nearby colleagues to join them… This habit of using electronic devices during work not only disrupts the store’s operations, but also poses a risk of minor or even major injuries.
The safety practices emphasized by the company extends beyond wearing protective gear or using tools correctly, it also requires our colleagues to remain alert and focused on their tasks so that they can respond to the changes in their environment or work demands at any given time. To give our colleagues a better understanding of the definition, potential risks and usage guidelines of personal electronic devices in the workplace, the company recently updated the “HR-030R1 Workplace Personal Electronic Device Usage Policy”. This update is designed to help our colleagues understand how to properly use personal electronic devices at work and avoid unnecessary risks. We hope everyone spends a little time to read and familiarize yourself with this policy so we can collectively foster a safer and more efficient work environment.
