明年要 開店安省小倫敦

把幸福 帶回我大學母校


親愛的夥伴們:


這個月初,我們宣佈了一個好消息:將在2024年夏天,在安省華人暱稱的小倫敦新開一家店。對T&T來說,倫敦是一個比較遠的全新城市,從多倫多往西要開車3小時,有非常多的亞裔家庭和留學生。

而T&T和倫敦的緣份,早在20年前就開始了,我大學唸的西安大略大學著名的毅偉商學院(Ivey Business School, Western University)就在倫敦。青春年華就在倫敦度過,所以到那裡開店,對我特別有意義。

最近再次回到母校校園,美好的記憶全都回來了。記得大二時我非常喜歡嘻哈舞,所以創辦了一個名為“Heat”的舞蹈社團,這社團現在都還在,而且做得很棒。在大學也認識了我的老公Akira,雖然那時沒有約會,但同學都知道他暗戀我(LOL);美好的事還有好多好多。

雖然倫敦什麼都好,可就是沒有大統華。我從小在溫哥華長大,舌尖上滿滿都是東方的味道,大一剛搬到倫敦,非常不習慣,天天想的就是溫哥華的T&T。一直到大四那年T&T開到多倫多,我和同學才有個地方能去解饞,儘管開車來回路上就要6個小時,還是要去一解鄉愁。

現在好了,T&T要把幸福感帶到倫敦了。雖說開店還有一年,可是在倫敦已瘋傳成八卦頭條了,因此我們就提早宣布讓大家安心。當地人都說「T&T來,對社區和每個人都是一件好事」、「這真是一件大事」、「T&T能來真是一種福氣」、「T&T最能解思鄉之情」。


當然在倫敦這樣比較遠的城市開店,對多倫多團隊會是很大的挑戰,但要向上高飛,就要勇敢地走得更遠更遠。我很開心和驕傲,在2003年大學畢業後20年,終於能把T&T超棒的美食和服務,帶回到母校所在的地方,讓大家天天都能感覺到,有大統華,真好!

由鼓勵和幫助生出的歸屬感


我很開心在2022年7月向大統華投遞簡歷,並成功加入了這個大家庭。非常感謝上司的信任和認可,讓我在入職不久後便擔任CA分店社群運營主任(Local Communication Supervisor)這個職位。


剛開始時,我總擔心自己不熟悉商品擺放的位置,怕做不好與這一部分相關的工作。然而,店長與主管們的鼓勵與支援,讓我慢慢有了信心。他們常常關心我的工作情況,幫助我解決疑難,在需要他們協助的工作上總是高效配合,這都讓我特別感激。

此外,CA店的同事們也非常熱心。有一次,雜貨部的Anthony在我需要幫助的時候,明明還未上班的他,二話不說就趕來幫助我。在我道謝後,他輕輕說了一句:「不用這麼客氣,我很願意幫助你。」這一句簡單的話,在我心中留下了深刻的印象。事實上,店裡還有很多同事都很友好、熱情、誠實和努力,營造了一個非常好的工作環境,讓我覺得能在這裡上班非常開心。

交到了新的朋友,學習到了新的技能,我也會繼續激勵自己努力前行,為公司的發展出一分力!

互助合作,不本位主義


Central Planning (CPD) 負責不同的新開發項目,其中包括和IT部門合作改善系統功能。


雖然我們關係密切,但過去也遇過不少困難。以前,營運部和商品部會各自提出改善系列功能的請求,IT都會分別找相關人士討論,結果發現很重要的事情久未完成,簡單而不大重要的事卻很快做到。最初我們是很困惑的,直到發現其實IT根本不能分辨各請求的緊迫性,所以我們就決定思考方法改善流程。


首先,我們決定把營運/商品部的IT request (ITR)集中處理,單一窗口避免IT混淆。然後根據緊迫性和重要性來計算方法,排出最重要的10個請求,由CPD透過ITR内容找出相關同事和IT洽談。經過這幾年,我們與各部門不斷溝通並調節計算方法,終於獲得很大的進步,重要的ITR得以盡快完成。在此非常感謝IT部門對各部門耐心的支援。

這個經驗讓我們反思到,我們總覺得自己的事情最重要,不明白為何其他部門的回應這麼慢。其實只要往後退一步,不本位主義,多思考其他部門的難處,通過商討協調,一定可以把事情做得更好!抱著互助合作的精神,讓我們一起實現贏的文化。

言行舉止注意分寸不越界


工作場所中,我們每天都會跟同事們在一起溝通交流,互相合作,有的人自認爲大家彼此之間熟悉了,於是在工作時會重複做出一些不必要的肢體碰觸,從而令對方感到不舒服;更甚者,還有人在工作微信群組裡發出不雅視頻,令人完全不能接受。


這些行爲都屬於騷擾,紀律處分必不可少。公司的「工作場所歧視、暴力、欺凌及騷擾政策」裡說明,欺凌及騷擾包括重複多次或一次嚴重性的行為、評論、表現、動作或姿勢,從而對其他同事造成持續的、有傷害的不利影響。公司對於相關行為將根據嚴重性執行紀律處分,最高包括解雇。


大統華、大家庭,在這個大家庭裡,我們要注意自己的行為舉止有分寸、不越界,不要隨意做出一些自認為是表達友好的肢體接觸動作,從而令同事感覺不適,在工作群組更是嚴禁發出任何不雅視頻或言論。如果有同事因對方的言行舉止感覺到被冒犯或不舒服,也請向對方提出或向主管反映。一個和諧健康的工作環境需要大家一起來創造,才能讓每個人都「樂在工作、開心生活」。

We will open a new store in London, Ontario next year, bring happiness back to my alma mater.

Earlier this month, we were so happy to announce a new store opening for T&T supermarket, London Ontario in the summer of 2024. For T&T, London is a new city far away. It takes 3 hours to drive from Toronto to the west, and there are many Asian population and international students.

The connection between T&T and London actually started 20 years ago, when I studied at the Ivey Business School, Western University, which is located in London. I spent my formative years in that city and opening a store there is especially meaningful to me.

Recently, I returned to my alma mater campus again and all the fond memories came rushing back. I remember that I liked hip-hop dance very much in my sophomore year, so I founded a dance club called "Heat", which is still there and doing very well. I also met my husband Akira at school. Although there was no date at that time, all my classmates knew that he had a crush on me (LOL). There are many other wonderful memories as well.

Despite all the great things about London, there was one thing missing: T&T. I grew up in Vancouver, and my tongue is full of oriental flavor, and when I first moved to London as a freshman, I found it hard to adjust. I longed for T&T in Vancouver every day. It wasn't until my final year of university, when T&T opened in Toronto, that my classmates and I finally had a place to satisfy our cravings. We would make the six-hour round trip just to relieve our homesickness.

Now, T&T is bringing happiness to London. Although it's still a year away, it has become a gossip headline in London, so we announced it early to reassure everyone. The locals all say that "T&T coming here will be a good thing for the neighbourhood, for everybody", "It's a big deal", "T&T's coming is a blessing" and "When you're homesick, the best thing you can get is food to soothe the homesickness".


Of course, opening a store in a distant city like London will be a great challenge to the Toronto team, but if we want to soar higher, we must bravely go further and further. I am just so so happy and proud that we're finally going to bring a T&T back to my alma mater like 20 years after I graduated, with amazing food and service, so that everyone can feel “It's great to have T&T” every day.

A sense of belonging borne through encouragement and help

I'm so glad I submitted my resume to T&T in July 2022 and successfully joined this big family. I am so grateful for my superiors' trust and recognition, which allowed me to take on the role of Local Communication Supervisor at the CA store shortly after I joined the company.


When I first started, I would always worry that being unfamiliar with where products were placed would affect certain areas of my work. However, with the support and encouragement of the Store Manager and Department Head, I gradually gained confidence. They would often inquire about how I was doing at work, help me resolve challenges, and would always coordinate efficiently with any work that required their assistance, all of which makes me particularly grateful.

My colleagues at the CA store are also very enthusiastic. One time when I needed help, Anthony from the Grocery Department rushed over to help without a word, even though his shift had not yet started. When I thanked him, he casually said, "That’s fine, I'm happy to help." This left a deep impression on me. The fact is, many store colleagues are friendly, honest and hardworking, and it has created a wonderful work environment that makes me truly happy to be a part of.


Having made new friends and learned new skills, I will continue to motivate myself to work hard going forward, and contribute to the growth and development of the company!

Mutual cooperation and selflessness


Central Planning (CPD) is responsible for various new development projects, including working with the IT Department to improve system functionality.


Despite our close relationship, we have had our share of challenges in the past. Previously, the Operations and Merchandising Departments would make their own requests to improve system features. IT would discuss with them separately. But we realized the more important requests remained unresolved for a lengthy period, yet simple but unimportant matters were completed quickly. We were initially perplexed, until we realized that IT was unable to determine the urgency of each request. And so, we came up with the way to improve the process.

We centralized all IT requests (ITR) from the Operations and Merchandising Departments - with only one window to avoid confusion for IT - and sorted out the 10 most important requests based on urgency and importance. CPD would use ITR content to find relevant colleagues to discuss with IT. These few years, we have continuously communicated with each department and adjusted the process to finally see a major improvement, allowing the most important ITRs to be completed quickly. I would like to thank the IT Department for their patient support towards all departments.


This experience has led us to reflect that we always think our matters are the most important and cannot comprehend why other departments are slow to respond. But if we take a step back and consider the challenges others may be facing, through coordination, we can certainly do things better! In the spirit of “Help one another”, let's make the winning culture a reality.

Ensure speech and action do not cross the line


In the workplace, we communicate and work with our colleagues on a daily basis. Some people think they are close with their colleagues, and will repeatedly make unnecessary physical contact during work, making the other party uncomfortable; someone even sent an indecent video in their work WeChat group, which is completely unacceptable.


These actions all constitute harassment, and disciplinary action is necessary. The company's "Workplace Discrimination, Violence, Bullying and Harassment Policy" states that bullying and harassment includes repeated, or a single incidence of serious behavior, comments, actions or gestures that cause continuous, harmful effects to other colleagues. The company will carry out disciplinary action according to the seriousness of the behavior, up to and including dismissal.


T&T is a big family. Within this big family, we need to be mindful our own behavior is appropriate and do not cross the line. Do not make any physical contact which may make others feel uncomfortable. Sending indecent videos or texts in work chat groups is also strictly forbidden. If anyone feels offended or uncomfortable by the words or actions of another person, please bring this up with the person, or report it to your supervisor. A healthy and harmonious work environment that allows "Work Life Happy" for everyone can only be created if we all work together.
